- Splash reduction: The overhang helps deflect splash-back down into the pool rather than over the deck.
Considerations
- Higher material cost: Manufacturing a drop edge requires gluing two pieces of stone together or machining a thicker slab, which raises the price.
- Debris collection: The underside of the overhang can trap floating leaves and pollen, requiring a quick brush down during maintenance.
- Weight: These pieces are significantly heavier, often requiring two people to install, which adds to labor time.
